Well, much like they do on The Simpsons, they made fun of Yale by having Yancy wear a Yale tank-top when he got beat in basketball by Fry (Philip).
I loved the reference to The PJs with the man-hole cover that Fry lifted to get into Old New York. Unfortunately, The PJs hasn't used that man-hold cover in their opening sequence in awhile.
